About the event
This Class is SOLDOUT!
Intro to ichinawa — All Levels
This partnered class explores the expressive possibilities of working with a single rope, focusing on intentional body handling, connection, and efficiency of movement. Rather than complex structures, we will work with simple tying concepts to develop sensitivity, communication, and control — learning how one rope can create dynamic interaction, mobility, and emotional depth.
Student pairs will practice foundational skills for guiding, supporting, and positioning a partner using rope and their own body. Topics may include rope-assisted movement, transitions, off-balancing, grounding techniques, and ways to create engaging scenes without relying on elaborate harnesses.
This class is open to all levels. Beginners will gain an accessible entry point into rope handling and partner communication, while more experienced practitioners will deepen their understanding of efficiency, intentionality, and the subtleties of body mechanics.
Come prepared to move, experiment, and explore.
